AI consulting for Chennai factories
and the paperwork behind them
I work from Mumbai. Most of a Chennai build runs on video calls, WhatsApp and shared links, and I fly down for the audit and the handover when the work needs me in the room.
I am based in Mumbai, not in Chennai. No office here, no staff here. What I have is a way of working that suits a Chennai firm, because most of a build happens over WhatsApp, calls and shared links.
The parts that need a room are the audit and the handover. For those I fly down, sit with the people who do the work, and come back with a map of how the work actually moves. Everything in between, the design, the build and the testing, happens from Mumbai while you watch it on a link. The machine, the accounts and the code stay in your name.
Where I am, plainly
Mumbai. I travel to Chennai for the audit and the handover where a project needs it. Nothing here should be read as an office in the city or a job already done there.
It works on the shop floor
A supervisor sends a voice note at the end of the shift. The Agent writes the dispatch note, the rejection record and the day's report, and files them where the office already looks.
Tamil in, English on the record
The floor speaks Tamil and the paperwork is in English. The model understands the voice note as it was spoken and writes the record in the language your customer's auditor expects.
The machine sits in your plant
A small server on your own network runs the model. Drawings, costings and customer schedules stay inside the gate, and there is no monthly software subscription behind it.
It asks before it acts
Nothing is sent or changed without a person saying yes, and every action it takes is written down where you can read it later.
You can stop after any step
Audit, design, build, handover. You can stop at the end of any of the four and keep what has been done so far.
How a Chennai build runs with me in Mumbai
The audit is the part I do in person. I come to the plant or the office, walk the floor, sit with the supervisor, the accounts person and whoever answers the customer's calls, and write down how work really moves. That visit is what makes the rest of it honest.
After that the work is remote. Design on a call, the build on your machine and your accounts, and a shared link where you can see what is working so far. I come back for the handover, because teaching people is easier in a room than on a screen. Between the two visits, WhatsApp is where most questions get answered. The workflow audit page explains what the first visit produces.
- Audit in person, at your plant or your office
- Design agreed on a call and written down before anything is built
- Build on your own machine and your own accounts
- A shared link that shows what has been built so far
- Handover in person, with your team using it while I watch
What a tier-two supplier's paperwork actually looks like
A lot of Chennai manufacturing sits a step or two below a much larger customer. The schedule changes, the dispatch has to match it, and the paperwork behind the dispatch is what gets audited later. Gate entries, job cards, dispatch notes, rejection and complaint reports, and the quality records somebody else's auditor asks to see.
Most of that gets written twice. Once by the person who did the work, in a register or a voice note, and again by someone in the office who types it up properly. An Agent can take the first version and produce the second, carrying the numbers across instead of having them re-keyed, and noting which record each line came from.
I do not go near the machines on the floor. This is office and record work, and it is where the hours disappear in a supplier business. AI for manufacturers goes through it in more detail.
Freight paperwork, and the chasing that comes with it
Chennai firms that move goods spend a large part of the week asking where something is. The container, the lorry, the bill of lading, the clearance, the proof of delivery. The answers come back as WhatsApp messages and photographs from a dozen people, and then somebody compiles them into one picture.
That compiling is the job worth handing over. An Agent sits in the group, reads what comes in, keeps one running position for every consignment, and answers when you ask instead of making you scroll back. Where a document is missing it says so, and names who it is waiting on.
What a family firm here would ask first
Two questions. The first is whether this means letting go of people who have been with the firm for decades. It does not. The audit produces a list of things to leave exactly as they are, and in an established firm that list is longer than the build list.
The second is where the data goes. For a firm holding customer drawings and costings, the answer is that it can stay on your own network, on a machine you buy and keep. India's data protection law, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, is why that question now comes from the owner rather than from the IT person. I am not a lawyer. I can tell you which machine holds what and who can reach it, and your advisor judges the rest.

Questions people ask
Do you have an office in Chennai?
No. I work from Mumbai and travel to Chennai for the audit and the handover where a project needs it. Everything else runs on calls, WhatsApp and shared links. If you want somebody who can be at your gate the same morning, I am not that person, and I will say so on the first call.
Can you build an AI system for a Chennai factory remotely?
Yes, for the office and record side of it. Design, build and testing all happen remotely, on your machine and your accounts. The audit is the part I prefer to do standing on your floor, because what people actually do and what the process document says are rarely the same thing.
Will it work if my supervisors speak Tamil?
Yes. The model understands a voice note in Tamil and writes the record in English, or the other way round. Nobody is asked to change how they already report, which matters more than it sounds. A system that demands a new language gets quietly abandoned in the first busy stretch.
How does the hardware get there and who services it?
The machine is bought in your name and installed on your network while I am there for the handover. After that it is yours. It restarts itself after a power cut, tells me when it cannot reach the internet, and any local vendor or your own IT person can open it. Nothing about it is locked to me.
What does an AI consultant for a Chennai business charge?
I do not publish rates, because two firms of the same size often need completely different builds. The quote follows the audit and names the machine, the systems, what is connected to what, and the handover. What AI costs explains what moves the number and how to compare two quotes.
Can it read our registers and our sheets?
Only what you point it at. You choose the folders, sheets and groups it may read, that list is visible and can be changed, and it writes down what it looked at. It does not go hunting around your network for material nobody gave it.
We run on Tally. Does that have to change?
No. Tally stays where it is. The Agent would read what you allow it to read and write back only where you have agreed it should, and I have not built a Tally connection for a client yet. Changing the accounting system is rarely the right place to start, and I would rather leave it alone and work around it.
